Caramel Dip or Sauce

You can buy this in tiny containers in the produce department for big dollars or make it easily at home.

Caramel Dip or Sauce

about 2 1/2 cups

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1/2 cup mild honey or light corn syrup
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 can Eagle Brand condensed milk
chopped mixed nuts or peanuts OPTIONAL

Apple wedges, dipped in orange juice or Fruit Fresh (TM) to prevent browning, and dried are the favorite dipper. This is especially good with tart apples such as Granny Smith

Mix syrup/ honey, butter and sugar. Bring to a boil and boil hard 2 minutes, stirring well- it likes to scorch.. Stir in the 1 can Eagle Brand milk; mix well and heat through. Keep warm in a crockpot aet on low. Easy to store in jars in refrigerator- rewarm slowly. Excellent on vanilla ice cream also.
