I need to prepare spaghetti with meatballs for a school spaghetti dinner. We are expecting about 225 people. I will have a mix of children and adults. I am preparing the spaghetti noodles separately from the sauce and the meatballs. I am buying the meatballs at Costco ,but I am unsure of how many boxes of noodles and gallons of prepared sauce I should purchase. Help!:) |

You can figure about six fluid ounces of sauce per person(10.5 gallons) and about 8 ounces of cooked pasta. Pasta doubles in weight when it is cooked, so figure 113 pounds cooked or 57 pounds dry. So I would make 11 gallons of sauce and cook 57 pounds pasta. Hope you have access to the schools kitchen. Cooking that at home would be a difficult challenge. |
