Wedding is Nov 3 at 5pm.. I'm ordering sliced Turkey, Beef and Pork from a BBQ place. Orginally they said we needed 37 1/2 pounds of meat for 100 people I'm thinking this sound like not enough. Also plan on serving a Spring Salad, Rosemary Green beans, meatballs and rolls. My daughter would also like Mash potatoes, but not sure how much potatoes I'll need. Can you suggest anything else I can add? I know I need to add another veggy and probably another potatoe dish or a pasta dish.
My brother and I are doing all the cooking.

Actually, with the meat balls, this is probably enough meat if it is the cooked ready to serve weight, but you won't have any leftovers. For a pillow, I would add about 5 pounds of beef. For the mashed potatoes, start with 35 pounds raw potatoes for 100 people. A broccoli or broccoli rice casserole would be a good second choice for the extra dish; 8 9x13 pans for 100 people. A pasta salad would be the sim[plest add on if you do not do broccoli rice- 6 pounds pasta to start.

I have been asked to figure how much fruit (pineapple, grapes, strawberries,etc...), cheese and crackers to serve 150 for a wedding reception. I am trying to help a friend.

The fruit tray page has exact help for you, including amounts for a sample tray for 25. For cheese and crackers, with not too much else, you want 20 pounds of cheeses (includes cheese balls and logs) and 6-7 pounds of crackers and flatbreads for each 100 people served.

I need economical ideas for a wedding reception for 150 guests.

Schedule the wedding for 1 pm, so people eat first before they come, then do a tea or dessert type reception. Or have wedding for 7:30 and do a dessert or hors doeuvre reception. Both ways you cut your food costs about in half compared to a full meal. See the dessert bar page, the tea party pages and the appetizer planning page for ideas. Do read my article on self catering your wedding before making your decisions.

My husband and and I just finished cooking a wedding reception buffett for over 2oo people. We had an extensive menu. One thing we served that was a hit was the Orange dijon chicken that is on this site. We served it over patty shells rather than rice. It was one of the best dishes we have ever made.

Thanks! I do like that recipe myself, but iit is even better to have a pat onthe back from readers. If you are inclined, it would be wonderful to have you menu and amounts for the dinner posted.
