My 4 year-old son dyed an egg at preschool the other day, we brought it home and I forgot to put it in the refrigerator last night. This morning I put it in. I'm guessing this egg is no longer edible but wanted to hear other's thoughts.

The contamination of the yolks with salmonella before the shell is formed, is happening now in some commercial flocks. So unlike the old days, for safety, you have to refrigerate even uncracked hard-boiled eggs. Here is a COMPLETE fact sheet on sgg safety with lots of neat ideas:
