I have a 10-12 lb fully cooked, smoked, frozen turkey. As my family wants to spend the day away from home Thanksgiving and having a Thanksgiving dinner that evening, I'd like to reheat my turkey in my crockpot. The oven cooking instructions are 350 1-1/2 hours. Frozen - 2-1/2 hours. Is a crockpot safe enough to consider? If so, should it be thawed or frozen? If either is O.K., how long for either? My crockpot has a timer with a warm-hold method that's good for up to 10 hours. Thanks! |

OK, this is doable in the crock pot. The safety recommendations for the crock pot are, not to do frozen, so I would get it into the fridge if it is not there already. Quarter it, laying the dark meat on the bottom, set to low, and allow 8 hours. If you will be gone longer, set it to go to warm after the 8 hours. Did you know you can do dressing in a second crock pot? |

Thank you. I appreciate the input. Just curious... why does the turkey need to be quartered? Why can it not be heated whole? |
