Has anyone purchased and used this cookware? It seems to be good quality but I don't know if it is all stainless or clad. I would appreciate any advice on buying good reasonably priced cookware or anyone's opinion on this brand. |

Cook's Illustrated, a trustworthy magazine, recently tested "green" frying/ saute pans and found none of them excellent. They did not test this brand, and I am not familiar with it. Maybe our readers can help. |

HI, I just purchased (this evening) 2 Schulte-Ufer Ecoline pieces at TJ Maxx, have yet to use them. The pieces I bought are stamped on the bottom with Premium Quality Stainless-Steel 18/10. Paid $16.99 for a 1 1/2 Q and $24.99 for a 3 Q. I bought them due to burning/ruining 2 of my commercial Calphalon pieces on my ceramic cooktop...(I have narcolepsy and fell asleep while cooking). I would love to hear any info on these as I am going to replace the Calphalon pieces I use everyday...trying to keep the cost reasonable. |

Searched and searched for info and found none in English. Just finished going through the German Amazon.com with translation help. Schulte-Ufer cookware had excellent reviews on all of it's products...some discoloration was the only 1 negative I found..and then it was not really a negative to the user. Several mentions of best cooking on moderate verses high heat..as I also have seen mentioned here for other cookware. This company is supposedly fourth generation family owned and has been producing cookware since 1886. The company site has no product info other than stating they are busy making a new line and will unveil it in a few weeks. Though it is a German company, and my product is stamped "Germany", I am unsure of where exactly it is made..am assuming China. |

I purchased my schulte-uffer pots and pans in Doorn,NL Holland while I was on holiday in aug 1987 I paid so much for them but it was what I wanted to bring back to the states German cookware and I still use all the pieces today exept for a glass lid and that was my fault I crushed it while moving |

I have a stock pot from them, and I LOVE it. I use it for everything, and I want a frying pan, and a smaller pot. It is the BEST pot I have used--heats evenly, things don't burn, browns perfectly, cleans easily. Did I say I LOVE it? |

I just bought a Schulte-Ufer eco line pot with glass lid, I can't determine if the glass lid is "oven proof" or not. The sales people didn't know, nothing in the literature that came with it says if it is or not and none of teh web sites speak to this question, does anyone know? |
D. Marks 12/15/09 |
I haver the same question as James. Is the glass top "oven proof"? Can not find any information anywhere to answer the question. |
ellen 12/15/09 |
If uncertain, use foil to cover the pans. As our reader above indicates, the only online info seems to be in German. |
Ines 02/12/10 |
Just bought today. can not find any info as to if dishwasher proof. |
anne 02/23/10 |
Same question: is the lid oven-proof? Guess tonite I'll try foil, but hope that others might have the answer. |

I just got my pots this past weekend at a German store called Kaefer's. Great customer service. The salesperson said that these pots are safe for all heating surfaces and inside the oven. She led me to believe that included the lid. Actually there were 2 ladies who were talking about the versatility of these pots. We were also told that they most certainly DO go into the dishwasher with no problems. I don't currently have a dishwasher so I'll have to wait to try that out. But I am gonna put one of the pots (with its lid) in the oven and give it a try. Everything I've heard about the pots is that they ARE made in Germany, but it doesn't explicitly say it on the tags. On all my paperwork it says their factory is in Sundern, Germany. Anyway, I love mine so far. I, too, wanted to bring back to the States some German cookware. The store in which I purchased them is known for their quality items and great service. I hope this is helpful to you. |

Thanks Jodie. |

I too bought mine at TJ MAXX I bought the 2 qt actually 2 ltr saucepan with the glass lid and I LOVE it. Beats my all-clad. No staining, super easy to clean, heats evenly. It is a joy to cook with. I made perfect rice, no burning. I did notice a strange clicking sound as it was cooling the other day. Possibly where the handles connect? I would buy more of this brand if I can find it. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! |

I've had mine for several years, but it doesn't get a lot of use, even though I love it (I just don't cook a lot). I was dismayed a few weeks ago when the handle just fell off. It looks like there are just two small dots of solder holding it together. I went to their website to see if you could replacement parts (since there's a screw underneath the lid to remove that center core), but their website is STILL saying they are about to reduce their new line (which someone reported was the status back last year in October! I am thinking maybe the company has hit financial problems, maybe even gone under, with the current global downturn. |

Just got a pot and lid at Savers for $5.99 and that is why I am at this website! I guess I know more that I did... Have collected a great deal of Calphalon over the years and picked up several of their copper core stainless saute pans which work rather well when you follow their directions BUT it must be hand washed and really should be polished with their "polish especiale" which is too time consuming for me. Have decided that my Mother's ancient, well seasoned iron fry pan does a fine job on scallops and steaks and i don't have to monkey around with it. |
sabine 09/13/10 |
has anybody used them on gas burners??? and if so how did they perform? thanks! |
BILLIE 09/16/10 |
i just purchased one from tjmaxx and can't seem to find out if it is dishwasher safe or not.does anyone know for sure????? where is it made???? is it safe to use??????? |
netya 09/24/10 |
I have purchased and used this cookware I few months later discoloration and hot spots appeared. I am disappointed with this brand. learned that after I spend all the money ;"Stainless steel is an excellent choice for cookware BUT because of its inability to conduct heat well it is important that you choose stainless steel cookware that has an aluminum or copper core. Without it you will find that you will get hot spots on the cooking surface and foods will cook unevenly. " |

I bought several pieces at TJ Maxx, and I love them. They cook well, look good, feel very solid, do not need polishing, dishwasher safe, and, the handles stay cool when you cook. |

I bought a soup pot with lid and 2 fry pans at TJ Maxx. The outside of the pieces are copper so they are not dishwasher safe due to the chlorine content of dishwasher soap. They have the 3 layers: stainless steel with aluminum core, 18/10 SS. They look beautiful but can't find any info on them and website is in German. I emailed a German friend to see if she knows anything. They are an excellent price compared to All Clad, but just want to be sure they are good quality. Please respond if you know anything more; I can return them. Thanks! |

it is very well rated at amazon in Germany (4.6 stars our of 5). Sorry I cannot understand the reviews LOL!! |

We recently bought a Schulte-Ufer saute pan in Berlin and we love it. The EU has enacted a rule that teflon will no longer be allowed on cookware after 2012 and European manufacturers have developed a ceramic non-stick surface. Our pan in stainless steel with a copper base and the ceramic coating inside. It has performed beautifully in the month we have used it. I would like to know of distributors in the US. PS: it was not cheap! |

Just bought some on and emergency because I got my induction cook top installed. My current set of pots and pans was suppose to work. There are stainless and such as well. But to my surprise they do not work. So like I said I bought to of these also at TJMAXX and they are OUTSTANDING. I have tested many brands being a dietitian and this is by far my favorite. Cooks evenly. I have no dis-colorization or hot spots. The pretty much wipe clean and look very modern. I love how they look. I am going back for more |
ellen 11/23/10 |
You have to have cookware a magnet will stick to, for an induction oven. |
lily 12/07/10 |
I agree this cookware is really great. I recently purchased one from Homegoods and i was really impressed and went back for more pots. Great buy! |

The question still lurks....I have never in my life have NOT seen "Made in Germany" from such a proud race if it "IS".Im not talking "German Design" or that the company is in Germany. We all know how many companies do this. I dont want to buy a Porsche made in China..even if it looks and performs exactly...and that I saved a ton of money. You think you would find one obvious site...bragging about "everything" being German from this company...we know there is no equal to German steel and workmanship.Maybe some are made in Germany..and some are not. Maybe places like T.J. Maxx are flooding the market with the " German design" versions from this company. WE NEED TO FIND OUT !! |
Grandma Rhodie 12/27/10 |
Just got a 2.5 quart pan for Christmas and I just love it. First saw it in Home Goods. Cleans so easily and the handles stay pretty cool during cooking. For those who can't read German......there are 2 little flags at the top of the home page. One of them is for everything in English. And I too wish I could find out if these pots and pans are really made in Germany!!! For those who have some of these great pots and pans.....keep cooking, they are a wonderful product. |

I've had a large pot - 4QT? with a steamer inside for a long time but only recently started using it w/ any frequency. Since I made chili in it I CANNOT get the pot clean.I always soak w dish liquid after cooking. By now I've soaked and rubbed 20 times and the pot feels like the food has just dried on- sort of like a bathtub ring. anyone have any ideas for me?- thanks. |
Dianne 01/29/11 |
Faith--Have you tried using a nylon scrub pad with Ivory or Dove liquid soap to get the chili residue off the pan? |
ellen 01/29/11 |
I recommend a product called Dawn Power Scrubber, a spray available at most grocery stores, Walmarts, etc. It even lifts those "permanent" dark brown bits on baking casseroles. |
Mel 04/02/11 |
I dropped a lid and broke the bakelite nob/handle on the top. How can I replace it? Thankyou |
ellen 04/02/11 |
Many old-fashioned hardware stores carry universal replacement handles. The manufacturer's site is in German: www.schulte-ufer-kg.de/ |
Ron 04/04/11 |
One of the best products for cleaning stainless steel is Barkeeper's Friend, liquid or powder. Cleans, shines, removes almost all stains. My Schulte-Ufer is great. The long handles stay cool. I cook with gas exclusively. I've substituted Sitram lids for the original glass lids; all stainless, bail handle. Break-proof and oven safe! |
Ron 04/18/11 |
PS to Grandma Rhodie, Anthony, Billie et al. I recently saw a couple of pots in a local store (may have been TJ Maxx) and they had stickers on the bottom saying "Made in China". Stll good stuff, though! |

schulte-ufer cookware I first saw a display of all stainless Schulte-Ufer cookware in Home Goods, and I was amazed at the quality and design which was so obviously above the standard for anything I'd ever seen before. I bought a 2-quart saucepan with an all-stanless lid which was selling at a very reduced price. It has a very, very thick bottom on it so it works beautifully on my ceramic electric cooktop which requires cookware which is very flat and will not warp. This Schulte-Ufer design is so unique and beautiful I keep the pot on my cooktop on display all the time and use it for everything. The handle on the lid is kind of squared off at the corners and so are the two side handles. It cleans like a dream. I'd love to have more pieces. |
Mary Beth 04/18/11 |
P.S. This cookware is stamped Made in Germany, and I don't doubt that for a minute. |
Gerry 04/19/11 |
Can these glass lids be used in the oven and up to what temps? |
ellen 04/20/11 |
Hi, Gerry, you posted twice, see the other one. |

Either it is a new feature or no one has noticed that there is a British flag icon on the upper left of the Shulte-Ufer web site next to the German flag. Just click the British flag to see the site in English. I just bought a small Shulte-Ufer pan from TJ Maxx. It has a label on the bottom that states "Made in China" like most everything else these days. I'm not sure what the purpose of the pot is. It has no lid and has graduations on the interior showing .5, 1.0 and 1.5 U.S. qt as well as similar marks for liters. I plan to use it to roast coffee beans on a propane camp stove. I have not yet tried it. Either it is a new feature or no one has noticed that there is a British flag icon on the upper left of the web site next to the German flag.
