I have 2 turkeys, 12lb & 15lb in my 18qt Nesco If it were me, I would do them one at a time, at 325 degrees, the small one a bit less than 3 hours, the large one 3 1/2 or so, using a thermometer, not a pop up to remove them at 155, and slice up and reheat the first one according to my directions in big pots. You can lay the pre-sliced pieces across the stuffing pan, cover tightly with foil to reheat and all benefit from this friendly meeting If they touch or are very close to the sides, those parts get overdone. You will be pleased at the convenience of the already sliced. |

I have 2 turkeys, 12lb & 15lb in my 18qt Nesco I am amazed! I did not get your message before I fell asleep but I put the birds in the pan breast down and opposite of head and tail in the pan like this // so that way there was some space on the corners and in between them. I also have veggies at the bottom and in the birds. I put the temp. at about 260 before heading off to bed at about 11pm or so and the smell this morning was wonderful! Its 8:00am and I just checked the birds with the thermometer and they both were at 180 no matter where I stick it so I just turned down the temp to 200 until its time to cut up the birds. I dont think there will be much to cut up as I can see the wings are starting to fall of the bird. I like your idea to cut them up and warm them up later, I just might do that so that its not cold after cutting it up. Thanks for your advice. Now we know you can cook that big of turkey or turkeys in the Nesco roaster. |
