In my kitchen I have two orangy/yellow gourds or squash... same thing? I don't know if they are banana squash or not. The info I have so far found; one site says they are bright orange - other site says they are yellowish pink? I cut into it and the flesh is similar to cantalope in color... in fact a lot like cantalope. The outside skin looks more like an smooth orange 2 foot long pumpkin, than the pics I've seen on the internet. So I don't know if this is some hybrid of the banana squash or if I actually am holding two long pumpkins. There are more growing on the vine. All appear to be coming from near to the main stem - leaves shot up like rhubarb plants do, didn't vine out like a pumpkin plant. Some help in defining my vegetable would be helpful in how I cook it. Thank you! |

Funny. I started cutting into the second one and it is pale yellow flesh. Not the color of cantalope like the first one I cut. Outside shell appeared the same on both veggies, and they definately came from the same plant. Picked form my garden. Please help assess. Thanks! |
