For recipes, look at the basic budget entrees, which were developed in a soup kitchen, and at the soup recipes. Read the article on very low cost food planning, and the article on hospitality at community feeding programs. Make contacts with your regional food bank and with local grocery stores, produce/ restaurant wholesalers, dairies and restaurants for food sources and donations. Get non-profit status (it is easy and cheap in most states) so people will donate. It is astonishing in the richest country in the world that people, including 1 child in 4, are hungry, and that we are cutting the budgets on domestic food aid programs. Good luck. |
