There are quite a few recipes of this type, usually called something like "Hamburger roll ups", "hamburger pinwheels", etc. Most are rolled, then cut into individual rings, then baked, here is one:
HAMBURGER MEAT WHIRLS Cook onions in hot fat until golden. Add green pepper, celery, ground beef, salt and pepper. Cook slightly. Sprinkle with flour; mix well. Add water. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Make biscuit dough with Bisquick, roll out to about 1/2" thick. Spread meat mixture over all and roll as for jelly roll. Cut and bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve with hot mushroom sauce made of 1 can mushroom soup and 1/2 can milk. |

Another of the recipes there is this one from a wwII cookbook: HAMBURGER PINWHEELS
1/2 cup minced onion Saute onions in fat in covered saucepan 5 minutes; measure 2 tablespoons and add to meat with salt, pepper, bread crumbs, and milk; mix well. (Ground lamb or cooked meat may also be used.) Mix biscuit dough (ellen's note: with 2 cups of flour/Bisquik), adding remaining onions to flour with shortening. Roll dough into 12×9-inch rectangle. Spread with hamburger mixture and roll lengthwise as for jelly roll, wetting edge to seal. Cut in 12 slices; place, cut-side up, on greased baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (450° F.) 20 minutes, or until done. Serve hot with Green Pea Sauce. Makes 6 servings. Green Pea Sauce. Make 2 cups medium white sauce, browning butter and adding 2 bouillon cubes. Add 3/4 cup drained cooked peas. |

Did you ever find the recipe? I am looking for it and all the recipes for pinwheels or roll ups don't fit. |

Kelly, if you want a specific recipe, you must describe it in detail. There are literally hundreds of Bisquick and hamburger roll ups available as recipes. |

My mother used to make a bisquick hamberger rollup, but so far I cannot find the same recipe. She used, I think cubed potato or maybe frozen hash brown, she then rolled meat & potatoes in the bisquick dough, put it on a cookie sheet & baked until golden brown. She used campbells cream of mushroom soup as a gravy. I have tried to make this recipe as i remember it which doesnt match anything i've found. I use mixed frozen veggies instead of the cubed potatoes since i usually dont have frozen potatoes. If i used regular potatoes i'm afraid they wouldnt cook all the way. Plus she always told me to use 1-1/2 x's what the bisquick biscuit recipe is. I've also had a hard time working with rolling the meat mixture up. The dough always tears & sticks to the counter even though i use flour so it wont do that. Help. Thank you. |
