How many turkeys to serve 200-300 people

I am a bridal consultant who has client thinking to save money they will to a self-catering option. I of course discourage this but I need to be able to tell her exactly how many turkey's she would need to feed anywhere from 200-300 people.

I suggest you get the bride/groom/mob to read my article under the wedding dinner button; I strongly do not recommend self catering for over about 135 unless hugely experienced and having commercial level facilities, and the article discusses why.

As for planning a turkey dinner for a large crowd, there is a very large article in the holiday cooking section at the top of big pots. Basically, 3/4 to 1 pound whole turkey per perso; lots of info on the sides.

If they have a tight budget, they should consider paring their list or having a 2 pm or 7 pm wedding so they can do a reception or dessert reception instead of a meal.
