I have been challenged to come up with appitizers for a mixer of 200 guest. 7pm to 9pm in Oct $1200 budget
What are some ideas that I can do that are a little better than meatballs, veggie tray, finger sandwiches and fruit?? |

What is the time of day and what is the occasion? What is the age and type of people attending? Both things affect the amount and type of food. For example, a coffee and dessert buffet is actually pretty inexpensive. Does this budget cover the food only, or also serving/npkins/etc? What beverages will be servfed? |

Its a secert santa fund raiser for the local arts organization. It will be all adults 80% women 30 ish in age. Buffet line. Includes Food Only. I think the beverages are a cash bar with wine and beer. I dont have anything to do with that end of the deal. |

Looks like your message got through, finally. They will have beer and wine for sale, as well as (hopefully) have a local winery doing a wine tasting. The mix of the crowd is 75% couples, with the balance being female. I would say the average age is 45, tending to the older side. |

So the next question is, does the $1200 include your time and profit, or just the food costs? If you are working for free, how much time do you want to spend, or do you want to get the food ready made? What heating and serving arrangements at the site (for baking stuff, etc? |

I would be looking at either a tex mex theme or Middle eastern theme as it is the most colorful and inexpensive or a cheese-based one with fruits, spinach bites, tiny quiches or savory creme puffs and stuffed mushrooms, as it is most friendly to the wine tasting, which is useful if it is actually good wine. All of these are cheapest if you do a lot of the work yourself, for example, those big gorgeous platters of hummus drizzled with sumac and olive oil start out as #10 cans of garbonza beans... |

$1200 includes food and labor. SO it needs to cost about $400 I guess? Everything will have to come pre made and set up. There is no kitchen, only a prep room. Thanks for all your help |
