Yikes. Some of the usual economy choices such as fresh breads and cheese are not practical with this big a group, and the usual price for this catered would be about $8,000. What is the event, what are the serving arrangements and what are the kitchen/ oven arrangements.

Wine,Cheese and fruit are the best bet here. I mean cheese balls, soft spread cheeses and hot cheese dips, Roasted vegetables on baquettes bread as well as spinach dips, cream cheese type dips and lots of dippers such as bread sticks and raw veggies. A chocolate fountain with fruit. Not sure you can do any kind of meat or fish with a budget like this. Maybe a little bruschetta with roasted tomatos and cheese on it.

The problem with cheese here is the service- you need one serving area for each 50 people for cheese service. Plus 16 -20 pounds per 100 people= $800-1000 just for the cheese. Chocolate fountain, at $2 minimum per person plus cost of renting fountains (at least 5) not feasible.

Fruit trays, it takes 2 people 4-5 hours to prep fruit for 300 people.
