We are having a BBQ for 40-45 adults (many little children as well). We have all the burgers/dogs/bratwursts all set, but I want to make sure we have enough pounds of pasta and potato salad. The market we are going to said we should have about 5lbs of baked beans, 5lbs of pasta salad, 6lbs of potato salad, in addition we will have a cut up watermelon with grapes and/or strawberries as well as a garden salad. I need to call the market asap to up the quantities of the salads, should I change any?
Thank you!!

You can tell by eyeballing the amounts. I don't think the store allowed anything for the kids, and they were quite modest in their suggested amounts. You want 5 gallons TOTAL of the sides, including the baked beans, pasta salad, and potato salad, I would be sure to get 2 full gallons of potato salad. I would probably get 7-8 beans, 7-8 pasta and 12 pounds potato. When you get there, look at the volume you have. If I needed more, what I would probably do is add a gallon of slaw rather than more of the big three, you can walk over to the produce department and pick up preshredded slaw mix and very good dressing when you pick up the other items.

Spaghetti Dinner for Boy/Girls Soccer Team 40
HOw many lbs of Spaghetti should I get to feed approx 40 middle school soccer players? Also, I am making a meat sauce. Do you think 5 lbs of meat is sufficient? Thanks so much for your help.

Check the lotsa pasta page and count each athlete as 1 adult. If you make 1/2 a recipe for 100, you will have enough for players coaches and cooks. I woul use at least 10 pounds of meat- see the recipes.
