I have a recipe for peach cobbler. It states "2 cans of peach pie filling" but no mention of ounces. It however will fit into a 13 x 9 inch pan. 1 box of yellow cake mix will be sprinkled over the pie filling. What size cans of peach filling should I buy...how many ounces? Thank you. |

You need 4-6 cups. This is also very good with canned sliced peaches in juice- more fruit, less sugar. |

Hi Ellen, Thank you for responding...do you think sliced peaches are better? It's less sugar, but after draining, is it too watery for cobbler? Also, converting 4-6 cups...is that 32-48 ounces recipe? Thank you. |

You want about 40 ounces. The recipe works fine with undrained fruit- not quite as syrupy as the pie filling, a bit more cakey. |

It is also called dump cake. |

Hi Ellen, Thank you for your advice...as you can see I'm really a novice in the kitchen. Anyways, one more question about the undrained juice from the canned peaches...is it proportioned to the cake mix (ounces)...or do I just put all the juice with the peaches into the pan? I guess I'm concerned that it will be too watery. Thank you again for your help. |

Pat, the juice is replacing all the liquids you add with a cake mix. What comes with the fruit is not too much, use it all. |
