Samsung cooktop stove

03/16/12 		I was cooking popcorn on my daughter's Samsung smooth top glass (?) cooktop stove and some of the popcorn fell onto the hot burner and it looks like the popcorn melted the cooktop.
Isn't the smooth cooktop supposed to be made out of glass? And if so, why did the popcorn seem to melt it?

03/16/12 		Yes, glass, and yes, food on it can pit it. Sugar mixes are the very worst.
