hi ellen,
i am catering a party for 150 people and i would like to know what is the best way to serve three different pastas and three different sauces. the party will be in the daytime and it will be outside. If you can give me a few tips i will greatly appreciate it. I will be serving salad and breads.

Mario, most caterers do this wit a pasta staion with 12-= cheffs who warm precooked pasta by immersing in steaming h20.

I would serve one baked pasta, lasagna or mostaciolli wit sausage, see my spaghetti page, but go to chef2chef.com or one of the other pro catering sites for the loose stuff.

HOW MANY POUNDS OF PASTA DO i COOK FOR 150 PEOPLE?

7 pounds of macaroni for salad for 100 people, but a pound of spaghetti only makes 4 main dish (large entree) servings. So how much you make depends on what you are making it for. There is quite a bit of discussion on the spaghetti/lotsa pasta page in Big Pots. For example, you need more pasta with a thin sauce than with a thick, chunky sauce.

I am catering a birthday party and having 150 guests. I've got the pit beef guy coming to take care of beef, ham, turkey, & sausage. I need to provide some other food in addition to that all by myself. I was thinking of having some type of potatoes, beans, corn, salads, baked beans, ice cream, and cake. Any suggestions on what quantities of each to get for that many people?

Covered completely in the plan for 100 page and the BBQ and brisket page in Big Pots. There is also a dessert quantity planning page.
