PRV, this is an unfunded, volunteer site, and sometimes it takes a day or two, not just a couple of hours, to respond to all the requests.

For 50 poeple, not too much left over, this is what I would make:

italian beef-18 pounds raw boneless
chicken penne pasta- I would probably make a vegetable, penne, as there will probably be some non-beef/meat eaters in the crowd and they would use this for their entree; 5 pounds dry pasta (5 9x13 dishes)
1 1/2 crusty rolls, 2 pounds butter, rolls suitable for sandwiches or eating plain
other condiments, use 1/2 the amount on the condiments section of the sandwich page

sides
fruit tray for 50- 1/2 the deluxe tray for 100 on the fruit tray page
relish tray- one classic relish tray as outlined at the top of the veggie tray page
possibly a Caesar slad- 1/3 the amount for 100 on the plan for 100 page, as you also have the relish tray
possibly 4 9x13 (1 1/2 gallons) of a roasted vegetable dish, or other veggie side

They can't take it home if you don't give them baggies/dishes.

Simply remove the food from the table to the refrigerator when all have served themselves.
