In November I will need to provide food outdoors for an unknown amount of Boy Scouts performing work for a cemetary Eagle project. No power will be available, and all water will be brought in. A hopeful estimate will be 25 people. What I really need is to be able to pick foods that can be frozen if there is a lot left over. I am thinking about taking our big turkey fryer pot and starting beans early that morning. Will cook using propane. But I am not sure what else to bring or cook that 1. will be easy; 2. can be done outdoors; 3. will appeal to boys and 4. will be relatively inexpensive. Has any one done something like this before? Any ideas? HELP! ;-) | |

Hello, I was a girl Scout Leader for 11 years. At camp we made B0-Paks. Use heavy duty foil. Spray with pam. Slice potatoes, carrots, onions, add pad of butter, and a half of skinless boneless chicken breast or a hamburger patty on top, then place 1 heaping tablespoon full of undiluted cream of ( chicken, cream of celery, or cream of broccoli ) on top. fold up foil nice and tight. place on fire ring for 1 hour. You have your dinner and plate all in one. All the girls loved these, ages from 5 - 18, leaders too. The kids helped slice the veggies or clean them. Buy potatoes that you can leave the skin on. We bought the cheap hamburger patties at Walmart. Now a friend of mine just told me she too was a scout leader many moons ago and they made these with bacon. 2 strips on top and 2 on bottom. |
