Lily, is it 100 or 1000, and what is the event? |

At a 5:30 wedding reception, people will expect- and eat- a dinner's worth of food, with appetizers. On this budget, you can do beans and rice and that is about it. You have to allow at least a dollar per person for plates, napkins, flatware, etc, and at a party this size, at least $2 per person for servers, reducing your money even further. You have three options I can see; reduce the guest list; triple the budget; or schedule the service for 1 pm with a tea reception after or 8 pm with a dinner reception after. There is one additional possibility. If some of the family/guests are well to do, the couple might discuss having them give the reception, or some portion of it, as their gift. |

I meant 8 pm with a DESSERT reception after. Sorry for the typo. |

I get what you are saying but my thousand dollar budget is strictly for food, plates drinks and wait staff are seperate do u still think this isn't enough |

Lily, it is still not near what would normally be spent for food for a wedding dinner. The $4 would be about enough for the appetizers. Have you an idea about a menu? Do you want to go with something as simple as a baked potato bar? |
