I am serving strawberry shortcake. Fresh strawberries are rather expensive, would strawberries frozen whole work as well. Either way, what should I use to create a sauce or liquid with the strawberries. Also I'm using 5# packages of frozen vegies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. You suggested steaming them--how would I do that for such large quantities. And how do I keep them hot. |

The juice is usually just sugar, see this recipe: www.cascadianfarm.com/recipes/RecipeView.aspx?RecipeId=34212&CategoryId=109 You can steam in a roaster or the oven by putting a rack in the cooking pan under the vegetables with boiling water underneath and tight cover.
