I'm helping a friend with a wine tasting party in her garden from 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. She is having white wine, sweet wines, & dry wines. How many pounds of cheese do I need per wine selection? She will be serving fruits & nuts also. As far as appetizers such as chicken puffs, mushroom pastries, vegetable trays, quiche, cucumber canapes, fruit trays with dip, etc. will 3 of each appetizer be enough for 100 people? She also wants to serve boiled shrimp. How many lbs of shrimp for 100 people. Thank you for your help! |

Lois, this is not a particularly wine-friendly menu so far, especially the shrimp, so the question is, is your friend doing an appetizer buffet with wine, or a wine tasting? I posted a wine and food pairing list today on the wine and cheese page- it will help with some ideas. For bites, you need a total of about 12-14 bites per person for a two hour party. Although the shrimps are attractive, they are messy for a buffet and not particularly good with wine. If you must, a shrimp dip or seafood mold is a better choice. You want at least 1/2 bottle of wine per person. |

Afternoon wine tasting for 100 guest Buffet Thank you so much for helping us! Now she has decided to just have some pick-up style food to serve with wine, beer, mixed-drinks, & lemonande. She wants mushroom pastries, shrimp dip with crackers, chicken puffs, and deli pin wheels. Would the following amounts be correct for 100 guest from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m?
Shrimp dip = 12 lbs Thank you again! |

Shrimp dip = 12 lbs- OK Crackers = 12 lbs- some left. Get a variety, avoid onion or garlic flavors
mushroom pastries 10 per person
Cheese 3 to 4 different types 3lbs each type If this saves you time, trouble or money, consider a donation, a dime or quarter per person, to support the site. |
