Hi. We are selling fresh fruit cups, in 16 oz cups, we want to make 300. We are having watermelon, pineapple, honeydew, cantelope and grapes, and strawberries. My question is how many of each should we buy? |

These fruit cops are very popular in Texas, and one secret is, not to cut the chunk too small-they take more space. A typical cup might include 3 pieces of watermelon, 2 each of cantaloup and honeydew, 2 strawberries, 2-3 chunks of pineapple and a dozen grapes. This varies depending on what is least expensive. You can figure the exact amounts you need by using the piece counts on the fruit tray page. These are MUCH improved by offering a quarter of a lime, and in Texas at least a sprinkle of hot paprika is also offered. They will hold better if you have the fruit very cold before you start cutting and wear plastic gloves. |
