Grad Party for 200

Hi Ellen, Planning a grad party for 200-225 people from 2-6pm. Serving chicken, sausage & peppers, rolls, pasta & meatballs, cheesy potatoes, pasta salad, green bean casserole, fresh fruit and some desserts. Questions are: does this menu sound balanced and need guidance on quantities for the side dishes. Planning to make 3 full steamer pans each of potatoes and beans, and 12 lbs pasta salad. Saw your previous suggestion for 33 lbs pasta and 50lbs meatballs for this size party. Does that hold true with this scenario considering the other dishes we will be serving?

200 people

chicken, about 150 pieces (16-20 chickens)
sausage & peppers, 1 pound sausage per 5, equal weight veggies
pasta & meatballs, assuming a baked casserole type dish, 10-12 pounds pasta and 30 pounds meatballs. Different if you do loose pasta- write back

Need rolls or bread- 24 pounds- and 5-6 pounds butter

cheesy potatoes, with this menu, I would do potato wedges or roasted reds, are you deeply attached to the cheesy potatoes?

pasta salad, 10-12 pounds dry pasta plus fixings

green bean casserole, 3 times ellen's better green bean casserole on the Big Pots page

fresh fruit- 2 deluxe fruit trays for 100

some desserts, use the dessert planning page. Sheet cakes serve 50 per full sheet layer.

If this saves you time, trouble or money, consider a donation, maybe a dime per person, to support this site.

Beverages, beverage planning page.

Ok, that helps.

Pasta, do 12 pounds dry, about 1 quart sauce per pound

Meatballs, 1 pound per 5 is plenty with the other meats, and you will probably have some meat left.

Cheesy potatoes, do for 120, see the recipe on the brunch page, it is also on the breakfast planning page, at the bottom
