I really need some help. I am a Title I school teacher and we are planning a Thanksgiving dinner for our students, parents, and teachers on November 17th. We want to include green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, rolls, dessert and drinks. I need to know approximately how much it will cost and how much of each item I need. Any suggestions? We need it to be nice but very economical. I know the meat will be expensive = do you know of a cheaper substitute? I'd appreciate help.

Christie, the best way to keep costs down is to be very precise on amounts, but to do this, I need more info.
*I need to know how many people of what ages are expected. For example, 4 kindergarteners eat the same amount as one adult. Moms eat less than Dads. People eat less at luch than dinner.
*I need to know the cooking arrangements. This effects how things are prepared, which effects how much is eaten.

Also, as a Title 1 program, can you solicit donations? This will help with costs. Check your local food bank to start. And many grocery stores and chains have some charity dollars.
