I have been asked to bring mashed potatoes to christmas eve. My husband and I live about 1/2 hour away so I want to transport them in a crockpot. I'm not sure how many potatoes I should use. I would appreciate any suggestions or recipe ideas. |

The recipe for freezable, holdable mashed potatoes for 25 on the big pots page should be just right for you. Unless you are going to eat the minute you get there, you would have time to heat them there. |

Depends on when you will make the potatoes, how much anf how long to hold. 4-6 servings reheat covered in the micrfowave *sprinkle on a little broth or butter) in about 2 minutes. Hot mashed potatoes can be held in a crockpot on low. Press a layer of saran wrap to the surface and keep them covered. Mashed potatoes that have been refrigerated can be reheated covered in the oven, again, spibkle with broth, cover. 30-40 minutes at 350. Keep the layer under 2 inches. A great way to reheat is to make twice baked potatoes and freeze or refrigerate. then heat them with the second cooking. A cgafing dish is workable, but again, keep it covered. Start with your potatoes already hat. |

Check out the Freezeable, Holdable mashed Potao Recipe for 25 and make 8-9 times the recipe. With this recipe you can make it ahead in batches and freeze. |
