Hi I am going to be doing a soup kitchen cook off. I'm making my taco dip, but i have to serve 2oz portions to 200-300 people. How much ground meat should be purchased? Thank you |

You don't include the recipe, so I don't know how "meaty" the dip is; but a 2 ounce portion is 4 tablespoons, and assuming no more than 1 tablespoon of meat per portion, 1 pound of 80% will make 30 portions. |

Thank you! I had used your web site and figured I would need 30lbs for 200 people with our 2 oz portions. We are having a "soup kitchen" cook off for the salvation army, and I'm used to doing serving sizes to feed the hungry! lol Now this tasting portion is crazy! We make large aluminum trays with a thin layer of ground meat, next we use a mixure of salsa and sour cream, then top with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. Simple, but TWO OUNCE portions??? geez! Wonder how much of those later items we will need? |

Wow, I've been thinking about the Meat only being 1 tablespoon of the 2 ounce portion!! Duhh!! lol to serve 200 people I would only need 7 lbs. Right? |

Yes, but if you use regular hamburger it shrinks more, so do about 8 1/2 pounds. This 2 ounces is about 2 tortilla chips worth- visualize scooping 2 chips into the pan for a tasting portion. |
