Under the heading of quantities for feeding 100 people, you say that 4 1/2 gallons of potato salad feeds 100. One tub of prepared potato salad weighs 5 pounds. How does that translate to gallons? Or another way to say it is....how many pounds of prepared potato salad is needed to feed 100? Also, you say that 3 gallons of baked beans feed 100. How many gallons is that? Thanks!!! |

3 gallons of baked beans is 4 #10 cans or about 8 pounds dry beans. Potato salad varies in how much it weighs per gallon, but it is usually in the vicinity of 8 pounds; the 40-45 pounds raw is to allow for peeling the potatoes. You want about 1 pound of potato salad for each 3 if it is the only starch, less if there are other starchy salads or dishes. |
