I have magnalite pots that I have washed in the dishwasher for many years, I can't get an answer about the black residue on my pots and their safety to use. all the residue doesn't come off. please help I can't get a answer anywhere. |

When aluminum turns black by exposure to dishwasher detergent, it's because of alkaline chemicals in the detergent, not the water. Anodized aluminum can't go in the dishwasher either. The detergent literally strips off the anodized coating. Try scrubbing it with a nylon scourer in a Cream of Tartar solution. Or Cameo Stainless steel cleaner. It's about 97 cents at Walmart. It can flavor foods, so it is nice to get it off. |
