Candy in bags for 180 people (wedding giveaways)

The bags are 4-3/4 x 2-1/2 x 9-1/2 brown window tin tie bags. We would like to fill the bags with chocolates (maybe M&Ms). We will be filling 180 bags. How many pounds of candy would we need?

Thanks!

These bags are large for candy favors, too big to do all chocolates, especially a concentrated one like M&M's. You will see what I mean if you take one and see how much M&M's it takes to fill it. Usually, you estimate 4-6 ounces per person but that will likely not do with this size bag.

Here are things you need to watch out for.
At least 5 bags with sugar free
At least 10 bags with no chocolate
Consider avoiding all nuts; they can be deadly to allergic folks
Use some bulky/puffy for volume; taffy, puffy mints, malt balls, bubble gum, York mint patties, little baggies of jelly beans, a wrapped cookie, specialty popcorn, and so on.

You might seriously consider a candy buffet table and let folks do it themselves several , there are threads about these on this site and lots on the web.

Candy tables/bags are expensive, 4-6 ounces per person. Consider doing a plate of sweets and truffles in the center of each table, 2 pieces per person.

If this saves you time, trouble or money, please make a donation, a nickel or dime per person, to support this site.
