Wondering if there is a safe but cheap way to serve acidic food in chafers. Don't want to expose people to aluminum oxide. Is it OK to have tomato based food with sauce, lots of, (Indian curries) in aluminum chafers, or can they be lined with parchment paper to create a barrier (assuming safe as steam doesn't reach the temp that's unsafe for silicone use that would be OK) Thanks! Or can i just use a stainless chafing pan for the food. Can a stand meant for aluminum handle the weight? |

Or are the liners for turkeys a possibility? Are they safe to cook in? The nylon kind- Thanks again! |

Folks if this is such a concern, please note that stainless steel chafers only cost about 28 each at warehouse stores. All the other suggestions are awkward or unsteady. Lining does not hold up as people self serve- they tear it. |
