Convection Steam Ovens

In May 2005 we attended the Kitchen and Bath Show in Las Vegas. A hot new item was the Convection Steam Oven. The Kitchen Aid representative at the show said that, "all Kitchen Aid ovens would be converted to combination Convection and Steam because there is no downside and Pure Convection cooking dries out food." I emailed various manufacturers and asked at high-end kitchen appliance stores in my LA area, but no one is carrying them, with the exception of Gaggeneau - and their convection-steam SINGLE oven is $4,100. This seems too high, even for this new technology.
Anyone have an update on the availability of more reasonably priced Convection-Steam combo ovens?

These are adaptations of commercial/ restaurant ovens, you might look at these. The home models are just becoming available, and I would wait two model years before buying.

In the meantime, a steam pan in the bottom of your regular convectin oven is quite helpful if steam is needed. One of the advantages of convection for roasting is that bit of drying out for crisping the crust.

Hmm, here is Malaysia, easily available is the Panasonic microwave convection steam oven, new last year, for home use. There is a small external flat compartment on the left side of the oven where you have to fill up water.
