Hi, Ellen! I've been lurking, but it's been a long time since I've asked a question. We've been assigned to make breakfast for 40 during a family reunion out of state the week after Christmas, and I need to send a shopping list to my in-laws ahead of time. The group is 1/4 young kids, 1/4 teens (mostly girls) and half adults. I am experienced enough to know how much of everything else to make, but we're going to serve navel orange wedges (because they have no seeds) OR tangerines/clementines depending on what my SIL can find that looks good that week. Since I'm not there to count the number of pieces of fruit per box, do you think 10 pounds would be enough is she finds tangerines/clementines? Or should I ask for more? BTW, I'm not a morning person, and I have a strata recipe (french bread, cheese, eggs, evaporated milk) that I often use for holiday breakfasts and breakfast-for-dinner, so we'll be making six pans (four with pre-cooked bacon, and two with mushrooms, green onions and bell peppers) the night before so my husband can put them in the oven the next morning. We'll have chunky salsa to top them for those who want it. I'm also taking two BIG batches of homemade granola, and my SIL will get a three or four bunches of bananas, a bag of apples, three gallons of milk for kids to drink and everyone to put on the cereal...and a big box of Cheerios for anyone who needs a little more food or is just plain picky. None of us drink coffee or tea for religious reasons, but we will have instant hot chocolate and spiced cider packets on hand since we expect a frozen lake, and probably snow. Everyone is bringing snacks to share, so no one will go hungry on our day or any other. ?:o) Thanks for your help! |

Good to hear from you again. Tangerines- 12 pounds at least- it is easy to count the bags and basically get 1 per person. |

Thank you, Ellen! BTW, I like the new look of the site. |
