BBQ chicken leg quarters for 40 to 50 people

I need to cook chicken leg quarters for an upcoming party. I have the rest of the menu already planned and have found out how much I need of each item. The only thing I am having trouble finding is "how" do I cook pieces of chicken leg quarters so they will all be ready at once. My plan was to bake them off in the oven in advance and then just throw them on the grill to "bbq" them (heat them up and baste with sauce). I have done this with regular pieces of chicken but the leg quarters I bought are huge. Can I put all pieces in the oven at one time in several pans and if so, how long would I cook them. I believe it is around 45 pounds of chicken.

Partially cooking chicken is not safe- you must get the temp internally to 145. Then chill immediately and hold under 40 degrees until they go on the grill.

Most ovens can't cook 45 pounds evenly at once. You MUST preheat the oven 20 minutes before starting the chicken, the walls of the oven will assist in even cooking if they are hot. You would cook in two batches, chilling each as completed.

So how long will I cook the tow batches then? Thanks Ellen :)

"two" batches, sorry for the typo

Very large leg quarters, tightly packed? Allow an hour per batch and DO check the temp.
