I have a 15 pound fully cooked prime rib. The sites I have looked at says to wrap in foil and place in 300 degree oven. What I'm wondering is do I place it directly on oven rack or do I need to have it in a roasting pan, on cookie sheet or ? I am preparing this for Christmas dinner and majority of people will want medium to medium well doneness. Is 3.5 hours good for this doneness? |

At 300 degrees for 3.5 hours, I am concerned it will be way overdone. Suggest you put in a reliable meat thermometer and turn oven to 180-200 when it hits 145-150. There wont be any rare, a pity. Yes, put it in/on a pan/sheet. It can drip. |
