Cooktops

Does anybody know the name of the type of cooktop that heats just like any other, but is immediately cooled off when you turn it off? I was thinking "Convection, Conduction, Induction", but none seem to fit. I saw this cooktop over 15 years ago and after removing a pot of boiling water, I could place my hand on the stovetop. Barely warm. Where do I find one of these? I would like a built-in to put in an island.

Dee, You can find Induction cooktops from Diva. They are Canadian based but have dealers in the U.S. My nearest one is Pittsburgh, PA. I too am looking into something other than the smoothtop I have because I hate it. No control over temperature. The web site is www.divainduction.com. The 36 inch cooktop looks great. Also, Sears has come out with an inductions cooktop but they don't seem to be marketing it much. Just check with your local Sears store. Let us know how it works out for you. I thing most of us are fed up with the smoothtops as they are now.
