Hello, everyone! Looking for some advice regarding my Kenmore glass cooktop and a new tea kettle purchase. I am looking for a conventioanl tea kettle and had intended to purchase a ceramic kettle when I stumbled across information that says the ceramic kettle is not recommended for the flat top stoves. After further research, it seems that not only are the ceramic kettles off limits, but so are any enameled kettles where the enamel touches the burner. My problem is that I would like color rather than stainless steel for my kettle, so I'm wondering if any of you use a tea kettle that is enameled on top and sides, with a flat, metal bottom that won't bond to my stove! Brand recommendations would be great. I love my stove and haven't had any problems outside of this (though I was glad to read your thread on these stoves and learn not to put hot pans from the oven on top - I'm luck I haven't cracked the top!) Thanks for providing such a great resource! Renee |

Tea Kettles & Ceramic Cooktps The plain metal bottom is the key- several readers have fused enamel or ceramic to their cooktops using the coated-bottom pans. But have you considered a cordless electric kettlez? MUCH faster, very convenient, and automatic shutoff so they can't boil dry, so very safe. There are a variety of sizes, shapes and materials, many are very attractive. I love mine, and would not go back. |
