microwave damage

My grandson put a foil bag in my microwave hood combination and burned a hole about the size of a dime into the window of the door. It is not burned all the way through, but I don't know if rays would escape if I used it. Any experience in this area?

Unfortunately this can cause a leak, and you may also have a damaged emitter tube (the thing that makes the microwaves) It needs a checkup andf at least a replacement door. Is the grandson big enough for a good dope slap?

Hi Ellen,

My grandson was making ramen noodles in a plastic microwaveable container and placed it into the microwave. He forgot to put water in with the noodles and burned off some of the coating at the top of the inside of the microwave oven and metal showing. (Needless to say, my kitchen was full of smoke and my microwave still stinks even after a thorough cleaning!)

My question is... Is it safe to continue cooking in the microwave, can it be repaired or should it be thrown out?

I don't know- maybe check with the manufacturer?

Melody, My daughter did the same thing. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the smell out of the microwave no matter what I tried so I had to buy a new microwave.
