My best friend is planning a bridal shower brunch for my granddaughter for July. Can you do finger food, salads and desserts, or should you do a more substantial meal? There will be approximately 30 people. Would appreciate your help.

In midsummer, tea party food is delightful and very appropriate. Check out my article on tea parties. Remember that for 30 people, yiu just make 1/3 of the recipe for 100.

Hmm, how about some hot mini croissants with some real crab salad and sliced country ham; beautiful fruit salad with a creamy vanilla yogurt dressing, or fruit trays with the same for dip; trays of small lemon bars and small fudgy brownies, or some beautiful petit fours; maybe some deviled eggs and stuffed celery or stuffed cherry tomatoes? Enjoy your shower.

Ellen, I had written you earlier re my granddaughter's bridal shower. I now have the final info. I need to know how much of each (chicken salad on crossiant-potato salad-Taco Dip w/crackers - fruit and veggie plate with dip - cheesecake)the people planning are going to need to serve 50-55 people? Do you have any other suggestions or recipes we could use? Anything you could do would be appreciated. Joan

You need to go to the Big Pots section, start with the quantities for 100 page and the sandwich event page, then look at the fruit tray, veggie tray, and dessert pages and you will have your answers. There is a Tex Mex 7 layer dip recipe that is a great taco dip. I would make 1/2 the amount for 100 to serve 50-55 women. I would serve the chicken salad in a mound and the croissants warmed- you will have better sandwiches and not throw away a bunch of soggy sandwiches.
