I am having an open house for my son. there will be about 40 guuests. I am planning a picnic type of gathering with sloppy joes, potatoe salad, fruit, desert etc. How much ground beef should I use for the sloppy joes? I typically do not use fillers in my recipe. thank you |

Grace, I make 4 sandwiches per pound with regular ground beef and not much sauce. So I usually allow 1.5 sandwiches for mixed teens, or up to 2 if it is all big guys. A side dish of baked beans or ranch beans will reduce the amount of meat eaten. |

If you want 1/2 and 1/2 meats, you want about 90 to 100 sandwiches (25 pounds meat) and 20 pounds thinly sliced ham. The beans and potato salads are on the quantity for 100 page- use 1 1/2 times the amount for 100. |
