an alternative to visonware

Hi ellen.
I have chemical sentitivites and I need a stove top cooker [cant use my oven right now- its poinsoning me :) ]

What would you recomend? Are there safe glass stovetops?
or clay -types?

It seems to me that slow cookers with their glazed clay pots would be the obvious alternative. If you buy new ones, put them covered on low full of water for 24 hours somewhere outside your house (garage, friend's kitchen) to outgas the wiring etc. before bringing into your house to cook. You can bake and do almost all kinds of recipes in these.

For most people, stainless steel is also chemically inert. What about you?

You could also ask a cook friend to brown and freeze items for you to cook/finish later in your crock pot. I would do this for an allergic friend.
