Plum Pudding Sauce

04/18/07 		Back in the 50s Mom used to buy Cross & Blackwell Plum Pudding and she made a creamy sauce to pour over it. She called it hard sauce, but it contained no alcohol. I have tried the recipe on the can and have read other recipes, but nothing seems right. Do you have any recipies? Thanks.

04/20/07 		Hard sauce is made with whiskey or rum, so I do not know what your mom was making. There is a good recipe in the older JOy of Cooking called foamy sauce that is nice with plum pudding. Did your mom use eggs? Butter? Cream?

04/27/07 		Thanks Ellen. Unfortunately, when Mom cooked us kids were not allowed in the kitchen so I have no idea what she used. Is the a website where I can find the recipe you refer to? Thanks.

04/27/07 		OK, can you describe it? For example did it pour or was it spooned? Buttery? texture toward whip cream or oward sour cream?
