grey stain on glass cooktop stove

I noticed a grey black stain on my glass cooktop stove on the large burner circle. It's not food or a spill. It's vey smooth, I actually can't feel anything,I can just see it. Is this a water spot or maybe a worn spot? We have Farberware pots and my hubby makes popcorn and moves the pot back and forth like he's making Jiffy Pop but he's careful... I've tried the Weiman cooktop cleaner. Thank you.

You can't do the Jiffy Pop thing on these tops. Period. It is most likely indeed a worn/abraded spot and not fixable. So if he is going to make popcorn that way, he should keep using that burner.
The Westbend Stir Crazy 6 quart popper is a great popper. Christmas is coming...
